The overall objective of World Mental Health Day is to bring attention to the importance of mental health for individuals, communities, and workplaces. It provides an opportunity for all stakeholders working on mental health issues to talk about their work, and what more needs to be done to make mental health care a reality for people worldwide.

On this occasion, tech giant Apple has shared helpful tips on how to enhance your overall well-being using the Apple Watch, iPhone and iPad.

– The State of Mind feature on iPhone, iPad, and Apple Watch lets you track your emotions and daily moods. It gives useful insights into what might be affecting your mood, like sleep, exercise or other lifestyle factors.

– On iPhone and iPad, you can access the same depression and anxiety assessments often used in clinics to understand your risk level. You can share these results with your care team for more informed conversations.

– With the Apple Watch, you can track your time spent in daylight with the ambient light sensor, and you can view your the amount of time in the Health app. And for family members with a managed Apple Watch, you can also monitor how much time they spend in daylight.

– The Journal app lets you capture and write about everyday moments and special events in your life, and include photos, videos, audio recordings, locations, and more to create rich memories. On-device machine learning provides private, personalised suggestions to inspire journal entries, and customizable notifications help you develop your writing habits.

– The Focus feature helps you cut down distractions and set boundaries. When you need to focus on something, you can customize one of the preset Focus options like Work, Personal, or Sleep, or create your own.

With Focus, you can mute all notifications or allow only those related to your task. Others will see that your notifications are silenced, but they can still reach you if it’s urgent.

You can also schedule Focus to turn on at certain times, when you're at a specific place, or when you open an app. If Focus is linked to your Lock Screen, you can turn it on by swiping to that Lock Screen.

The tech giant has also announced that on October 10, Apple Watch users can earn an award by logging 10 mindful minutes using any app that syncs with the Health app on iPhone, including the Mindfulness app on Apple Watch.
