#MatrimonialAdAlert: A woman is looking for a groom who is open to the idea of living separately from his parents, who can accommodate her parents, who loves travelling, who earns 30 LPA or more, who has a 3BHK, who can afford staying in 5-star hotels while touring the world, who is a software engineer and who is preferably settled in the US, UK or India. Meanwhile, the woman holds a B.Ed degree, earns 1.3 LPA as a teacher.
Well that’s not all. The woman also mentions in her requirements that she can’t cook, doesn’t like doing workout and can’t take care of other household responsibilities.

Her matrimonial post has gone viral, with many users calling her out for her double standards. Come to think of it, in this day and age, when more and more women are getting a level-playing field to compete and make a mark for themselves in the professional world, why should a woman think that she’s entitled to look for a groom who has a more well-paying job and competent enough to take care of all her needs? Should women of today continue to expect men to be the sole providers of the family?
It’s not to suggest that all women have had equal access to opportunities and it is true that we still need to go a long way to bridge the gap in terms of opportunities that a woman and a man gets. But women are getting there. While some have taken giant leaps, some are taking baby steps to feel empowered.

However, even then, it’s pretty archaic for women to expect that a man should earn way more than her and should be ready to accommodate all her demands. “I feel it’s unfair. It used to happen back in the day that men used to look for a beautiful bride and women used to look for a man with stable income. However, now things have changed drastically. Women can earn and fend for themselves. There’s no reason why they should have such high expectations from a man alone. Her post clearly reflects that she suffers from serious entitlement issues,” says Madhav, a working professional.

"I think I am just amazed to see how this woman has a list of demands and she doesn't give two hoot about how irrational she's appearing. We are on our way to becoming an egalitarian society, but if this is how a section of women continues to think, then I feel it's a disservice to our society in a way," says Rajni, a homemaker.
