Political commentator and former US Army officer Scott Bennett died after a battle with pancreatic cancer. He was 53. Bennett was well known for authoring Shell Game: A Military Whistleblowing Report to Congress, a book released in 2014. Itinvestigated the involvement of former U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and then-Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner in facilitating an arms sale to Qatar.
Bennett's Political Stint
The former US Army psychological officer, gave political commentary to RT news and other media outlets. He also visited Donbass in 2023 to see the situation firsthand.

He was notorious for criticising US assistance for Ukraine and spreading propaganda in Russian-occupied territory. Earlier this year, Bennett had also asked President Vladimir Putin for a Russian citizenship.
The political analyst travelled to Belgorod, Russia, in June 2024, and observed Ukrainian bombardment of the town of Saltykovo. At the time, he criticised what he saw as an attack on people.

He then released a report to the US Congress, and accused them of purportedly targeting people in Donbass and Belgorod Region.
"Non military targets are being attacked, irreparably damaged or destroyed, and civilians are being intentionally murdered as a result," he said in his report. He also added that he received death threats from the Ukrainian government at the time of his investigation.
Margarita Simonyan Speculates Bennett Might Have Been Killed
The editor-in-chief of the RT media group said that the political commentator could have been killed for telling the truth about the conflict on Ukraine.
"It is quite possible that Scott Bennett was killed. Quite possibly, for telling the truth about the conflict on Ukraine," Simonyan wrote in a post on her Telegram channel on Saturday.
"Two weeks ago he was still in great shape. And suddenly, for no reason at all, he dies of cancer, which he never had, according to the testimonies of his numerous various friends," she added.
