The victim who was shot dead in a triple shooting during the Harvest Homecoming festival has been identified by New Albany Police as Bryce Andrew Gerlach, an 18-year-old boy from Indiana. The other two victims, identified as a 42-year-old woman and 22-year-old man, are currently undergoing treatment.
As per the Police, the shooting broke out after a heated dispute between "two individual groups."
All the victims were innocent bystanders who had no relation to the dispute that had triggered the shooting, as per information from the Police.
New Albany Mayor Jeff Gahan expressed his grief over the shooting.
While addressing the issue of gun violence Gahan said, "Gun violence at a family festival is heartbreaking and tragic, and our country must find a way to come together to stop this type of violence." He then added, "We've enjoyed a safe Harvest Homecoming for nearly 57 years, but sadly, this type of gun violence is now all too common across United States."
Police Chief Todd Bailey said police believe there were "at least two" shooters involved in the incident. No arrests have been made so far.
Adding to this, Chief Bailey said, "At this point I will not speculate, editorialize anything regarding this event. Our primary responsibility is to identify and apprehend all suspects in this case."
The annual Harvest Homecoming festival for Sunday was canceled following Saturday's shooting tragedy.
Meanwhile, popular bakeries like Milo's Boba and Bakery and food vendors in the town are raising funds to support Bryce Andrew Gerlach's family.
