when sonali bendre said rohit bal creations 'age better' from sets of super dancer 4

In a style move that totally nailed the concept of timeless fashion, Sonali Bendre had turned heads in 2021 when she stepped onto the set of Super Dancer Chapter 4 sporting a jacket by late Rohit Bal. What was interesting was the fact that she had recycled one of her jackets designed by Bal from at least two decades ago. The iconic fashion designer tragically passed away on November 1, 2024, at the age of 63 after suffering a heart attack.

When Sonali Bendre recycled Rohit Bal's outfit

Imagine this: a gorgeous, intricately designed jacket with every detail just as striking as the day she first wore it. In an Instagram post back in 2021, Sonali Bendre had shared two pictures from the sets of Super Dancer Chapter 4 as well as a throwback photo with Shah Rukh Khan and designer Rohit Bal. In both the photos, the actress wore the same heavily embellished long jacket. In her caption, Sonali reminded us all about the power of sustainable fashion, the beauty of recycling and holding onto pieces that hold memories.

The post was captioned, “Some things age better… I’m talking about my jacket here. I wore this beautiful jacket from @rohitbalofficial at least 2 decades ago and I’m so glad I could wear it again! #Vintage.”

Any outfit that can make a splash 20 years after its debut has earned a place in fashion history. That was Rohit Bal for you.

RIP Rohit Bal!

The Fashion Design Council of India (FDCI) had said in a statement on Instagram, "We mourn the passing of legendary designer Rohit Bal, Known for his unique blend of traditional patterns with modern sensibilities, Bal's work redefined Indian fashion, and inspired generations."

FDCI chairman Sunil Sethi had said on Instagram that Rohit's death, popularly called Gudda, 'will leave a void in the fashion design space forever'. "Everyone admired him for his attention to detail, how beautifully his lotus bloomed on modern shapes and his understanding of what modern women desired," Sunil said.

May his soul rest in peace!
