Iconic Hollywood actress Julianne Moore is known for her roles in films like Boogie Nights, Far From Heaven, The Lost World: Jurassic Park, and The Kids Are All Right. In an old interview, the actress had opened up about being replaced in a film.

Julianne Moore was the actress first attached to play the film’s protagonist. Eventually, her directing role was replaced by Marielle Heller. During an appearance on Watch What Happens Live in 2019, Moore opened up about getting sacked from the movie and being replaced by Melissa McCarthy.
She revealed, "I didn't leave that movie, I was fired," the actress told host Andy Cohen.
When probed more about the film, Julianne added, "I think she (Nicole Holofcener) didn't like what I was doing. We just had been rehearsing and doing pre-production and stuff and her idea of where the character was different than my idea of where the character was, so she fired me.” Moore said she never saw McCarthy and Heller’s version of Can You Ever Forgive Me? because it was “too painful”.
According to the film’s co-star Richard E. Grant, Moore wanted to wear a fat suit and a prosthetic nose to physically match Israel. The choice was allegedly not favoured by Holofcener and thus the decision to fire Moore was made.
