Fiorentina star Edoardo Bove collapsed on the pitch in Florence on Sunday and his side's Serie A game vs Inter Milan was suspended. Immediately after the 22-year-old fell to the floor, medical teams rushed onto the ground and players and staff – from both teams – formed a circle. An ambulance appeared on the side of the pitch.
Bove was seemingly bending down to take off his boot when he suddenly collapsed. Play was stopped. Soon, players and staff members reached the spot and circled him. Local media reports said that everyone around the midfielder was in tears.

The Italian mid-fielder was taken to the hospital. His current condition is not known yet. Sky Italia reported that the 22-year-old was 'breathing on his own'.
Reacting to the incident, England international Cole Palmer tweeted: "My thoughts and prayers go to Fiorentina player Edoardo Bove."

The incident drew a parallel to scenes when former Manchester United midfielder Christian Eriksen collapsed on the ground during a Euro 2020 game between Denmark and Finland. He had suffered a cardiac arrest.
Who is Edoardo Bove?
Edoardo Bove is an Italian footballer who plays as a midfielder for AS Roma. He is on loan to Fiorentina. Bove first appeared for Roma in 2020. He scored his first senior goal in February 2022 during a match against Verona. In December 2023, he extended his contract with Roma until 2028. In 2024, he was loaned to Fiorentina for a season, where he made an immediate impact, scoring against Roma in a 5-1 victory.
