J-Hope Military Discharge: BTS’ J-hope has officially been discharged from the military. The K-pop star, who enlisted for mandatory military service in April 2023, is back to being a civilian.
BTS' J-hope gets discharged from military
Sporting his military uniform one last time, J-hope was all smiles as he made his way out of his base on October 17. Before heading back to HYBE’s headquarters, the BTS star gave a short and sweet speech in which he thanked ARMY and the citizens of Wonju for cheering him on during his service period.
"I was able to finish the service well and in good health thank to the fans," he said, before adding, "While I was serving for 1.5 years as an assistant drill instructor, I did a lot of marches and met quite a lot of citizens of Wonju along the way. They always greeted the soldiers and cheered us on. I wanted to say thank you to the citizens. It was really really moving and I don't know how to express this warm emotion for them," he said.

Even as he concluded his speech, J-hope continued to express his gratitude. "Thank you so much for waiting for me. Thank you for giving me such great encouragement and support and love. I am discharged from the military in good health. Thank you! Salute," he signed off.

BTS' J-hope in the military
In April 2023, J-hope had enlisted as an active-duty soldier at the 36th Infantry Division recruit training center to receive five weeks of basic military training. After completing his training, he served at the army boot camp as an assistant drill instructor. The rapper did exceptionally well in the military. He not only earned numerous accolades, but also quickly rose up ranks and was promoted to Special Class Elite Warrior.
On the work front
On March 29 this year, J-hope releasedHope On The Street. The project included a documentary that follows his story as a dancer as well as a new album, Hope on the Street Vol 1. Recently, the BTS star dropped a bunch of snaps with singer-producer Pharrell Williams. He captioned the post, “P & j. Can’t wait for 2025,” which has led to speculations about a new project among ARMY.
