'we just moved on from that': jemimah rodrigues opens up on controversial run-out call favouring amelia kerr

India batter Jemimah Rodrigues has said that although her team regretted the run-out decision not going in their favour, dismissing Amelia Kerr a few balls later brought much-needed peace to the camp. The Indian team found themselves in the middle of an umpiring controversy and the final decision didn't go in their favour, which left the top brass fuming.

On Friday, the 'White Ferns' ended their 10-match losing streak with their biggest victory over India in T20Is. India were sloppy on the field and the Kiwis, led by skipper Sophie Devine, posted 160/4 batting first.

But the game's biggest talking point remained the run-out decision, as India captain Harmanpreet Kaur, her deputy Smriti Mandhana and even coach Amol Muzumdar were seen speaking with the umpires.

"We know how important Amelia Kerr's wicket is and yes, at that moment it felt a little, 'Why didn't it go in our favour? But at the same time, I think we did what we could. We spoke to the umpire, then we had to accept the umpire's decision and move on," Rodrigues said in the post-match press conference.

"I think that's what we did well, that we just moved on from that and we got her out pretty soon. So that worked for us," Rodrigues added.

On the final delivery of the 14th over, which was being bowled by Deepti Sharma, Kerr ran a single and the ball was deemed dead by everyone. Harmanpreet fielded the ball and was slowly looking to throw it back to the wicketkeeper when Devine and Kerr went for another run. The Indian skipper was quick on her feet and threw the ball immediately to Richa Ghosh, who ran Kerr out.

While India celebrated, the umpires said that the ball was already dead and the Kiwi all-rounder wasn't out. This expectedly didn't go down well with the Indians who had a long chat with the umpires but couldn't get the decision in their favour.

Much to India's delight and relief, Kerr was caught by Pooja Vastrakar in the covers off Renuka Singh Thakur's bowling on the second delivery of the 15th over.
