Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath was seen trying his hands at cricket on Sunday when he attended the All India Advocates Cricket tournament in Lucknow. The CM batted for a few balls at the Ekana stadium and a video of the same is going viral on social media.

The saffron-robed Chief Minister, wearing sandals, steps up to the pitch. He then, in a series of pictures posted on X by UP government, appears to be hitting a ball. He is all smiles. CM Yogi tried to go for a straight drive with a wide smile on his face. The wicketkeeper behind the stumps was seen applauding CM Yogi's shot.

“Today I attended the inaugural ceremony of the 36th All India Advocate Cricket Tournament held in Lucknow. In the last 10 years, under the guidance of the Honorable Prime Minister Shri @narendramodi ji, sports activities have expanded in the country,” UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath wrote in a post on social media platform X.

“'Fit India Movement' and 'MP Sports Competition' are proof of this. Hearty congratulations and best wishes to all the teams participating in the competition from across the country!” CM Yogi added.

Yogi Adityanath Plays Chess

On Friday, Yogi Adityanath on Friday played a game of chess with Kushagra Agrawal, a Gorakhpur resident and the country's youngest World Chess Federation (FIDE)-rated player.

Kushagra had visited the Gorakhnath Temple to seek the CM's blessings. He is just 5 years and 11 months old and currently a student in UKG. With a Rapid FIDE rating of 1428, he holds the title of India's youngest FIDE-rated player.

CM Yogi Adityanath engaged in a “thoughtful conversation” with Agarwal, discussing various chess moves and strategies.

The chief minister assured him that the Uttar Pradesh government would extend full support to further nurture his talent, expressing confidence that the young international chess player would bring pride to Gorakhpur, the state, and the nation in the years to come, a statement read.
