'Dussehra', also known as 'Vijayadashami', celebrates the triumph of good over evil, symbolising the day when Lord Rama is said to have defeated Ravana. It also marks the end of Durga Puja and the nine-day Navratri festivities.

Meanwhile in the national capital, an effigy of Ravan that is 211-feet tall has been installed in Sector 10 of Dwarka, Delhi. Organisers told the media that it took fours month to complete the structure with the hard work of 40 individuals. The specialty of this structure is not just being the tallest effigy but only eco-friendly materials were used to prepare this. The total budget of this structure is Rs 30 lakhs. Delhiites are excited to attend the event.

Rajesh Gehlot, Dwarka Shree Ram Leela Society organiser, said, "It took almost 4 months to make this Ravana effigy. The expenditure was around Rs 30 lakhs. You will get to see the tallest and most beautiful Ravan effigy in Dwarka."

The effigy, standing taller than the 92-foot replica of Ayodhya’s Ram Mandir, is crafted from iron, dressed in a velvet outfit, and topped with a fibreglass crown. Its foundation extends 10 feet underground, according to Gehlot.

Gehlot pointed out at the "sin increasing in the society," and how the effigy symbolises victory over that.

"As we can see, sin is increasing in society, so this effigy symbolizes the growing sins, and we will burn them all on Dussehra, that is, on October 12, 2024. We have invited prime minister Narendra Modi to the ceremony and are hopeful for a positive response. Invitations have also been extended to other BJP leaders."
