Noida: A man named Surya Bhadana was arrested by the Noida Police on Saturday allegedly for assaulting a woman in Omaxe Palm Green Society, Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh. The police had launched a manhunt programme to identify the accused who was seen hitting a woman in a viral video, purportedly took place under Dadri police jurisdiction. According to the police, Surya and the victim knew each other already as they were in the same college.

The UP Police took cognisance of the viral video. The clip showed the man getting angry with the woman. He abused her, and slapped her as she tried to defend herself against him. The accused also pulled the woman’s hair, and did not leave until others intervened.

Locals gathered around them, and pacified the situation. The man can be seen leaving from the site. However, it is yet unknown why the man assaulted the woman on the street. More details are awaited in the matter.

In a separate incident from Greater Noida, a teenager was arrested for knocking down a woman who was walking on the roadside. A CCTV footage of the incident showed the speeding car hitting the woman, and smashing her to a pole. The incident took place in the broad daylight when the road was almost empty, with only one truck moving at a slow speed. The woman was a labourer who is survived by two children. The accused teenager has been arrested after being booked under relevant sections of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and Juvenile Justice Act.
