Vicky Kaushal recalls decision to settle abroad after post-graduation

In a recent chat with Harper’s Bazaar, Vicky Kaushal shared his approach to his career. During his college years, Vicky Kaushal imagined a typical career path, possibly relocating abroad after completing his postgrad. However, a visit to a big corporation turned his plans upside down. The second he walked into that office, he realised it wasn’t his calling. The thought of being confined to a desk didn’t sit right with him – he knew he wouldn’t be happy.

He said, “In college, I thought I’d follow the conventional route, maybe settle abroad after my postgraduate degree. But everything changed during an industrial visit to a multinational company. The moment I stepped into that office, I knew it wasn’t for me. I couldn’t see myself stuck in a cubicle; I would be so unhappy.”

Vicky Kaushal says the experience sparked serious self-reflection and ignited a whole new vision for the future. He added, “I realised I needed to confront what I truly wanted. I’d always enjoyed being on stage and participating in dances and skits, but I never considered acting as a career. I was shy and uncomfortable with the idea of being in the limelight.”

During the chat, Vicky recalled, “If I could channel that joy into a career, I wouldn’t experience the dreaded ‘Monday blues’. It took time for me to accept that acting could be my path. I had to convince myself, and later, my family, that this was what truly made me happy.”

And as we all know today, Vicky took the correct decision to dive into acting and deliver several hit films.

Vicky Kaushal recently hit the big screen in his latest release, Bad Newz, alongside Ammy Virk, Triptii Dimri, and Neha Dhupia. The film, which debuted on July 19, 2024, has audiences praising Vicky’s performance. Up next, he is set to star in Chhava with Rashmika Mandanna, Akshaye Khanna, and Ashutosh Rana.
