vhp leader vikas bagga killing case: nia conducts series of raids in punjab, uncovers khalistani links

New Delhi: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Friday conducted a series of searches in Punjab related to the targeted killing of Vikas Bagga, a leader of the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) from Nangal. The investigation has uncovered links to foreign-based Khalistani terrorists.

The NIA carried out raids at two locations associated with individuals suspected of providing logistical support to the perpetrators of the murder. During these searches, the agency seized several digital devices and other incriminating materials.

These actions follow the arrest of Dharminder Kumar, also known as Kunal, who was apprehended in Ludhiana on 18th August by NIA and Delhi Police Special Cell teams. Kumar is believed to have supplied the illegal arms and ammunition used in the high-profile case.

Vikas Prabhakar, known as Vikas Bagga, was killed on April 13 this year inside his shop in Nangal, Roopnagar, Punjab. The NIA took over the investigation from the state police on 9th May 2024.

Preliminary findings by the NIA indicate that Bagga's killing was orchestrated by Babar Khalsa International (BKI) operatives, including Harjit Singh (Laddi), Kulbir Singh (Sidhu), and Harwinder Kumar (Sonu), who collaborated with the arrested individuals.

The NIA's investigation into the case is on to identify and apprehend other individuals involved in the murder.
