Vedang Raina finally made his big screen debut with Vasan Bala's Jigra. The film, that also features Alia Bhatt in the lead role, had been creating quite the buzz. So, how has the action thriller’s release affected Vedang’s life? The actor shares withZoom.
Have you been mobbed after Jigra release?
I haven’t really stepped out yet, so no mobbing , haha. But Jigra changed my life way before it was even released. I’m just grateful I was part of this project and got to work alongside some really great minds. I feel blessed to be in this position so early in my career and at such a young age.
Which is the best compliment you have received so far?
The best compliment I’ve received is that this didn’t look like my debut at all. I work really hard only to get appreciated for my work, that’s all I really care about. So I’m glad that people liked my performances and saw some promise. It really means the world.

Do you enjoy being a gay icon?
Am I a gay icon?? I doubt. I’m not really any icon at all. But yes, any love and appreciation is good, it feels good to be validated.
How much were you affected by the whiplashing sequence?
The lashing scene was tricky but Vasan Bala sir gave me some really great advice right before the scene which made my approach clearer. It was still very hard to put your mind through that. I’m happy that there was appreciation for that scene!

So, what's next?
Now plans are to focus on the next. I want to keep growing and improving and evolving as an actor. I want to keep challenging myself and keep working, that’s the only focus. Hopefully, I get interesting opportunities to do that!
