Residents of a housing society in Uttar Pradesh's Kanpur experienced a surprise when a crocodile made its way into their neighbourhood, leading them to call the police and forest officials for help. The incident took place Saturday afternoon at Surya Vihar Society in Makdikheda. The incident soon attracted onlookers as the the crocodile – tied in ropes – became a spectacle. The crowd captured the scene on their mobile phones with videos showing the excitement at the scene.

The reptile was spotted emerging from a drain by a group of children playing cricket. They quickly alerted others, who then informed the authorities. Forest officials were soon called in and after several hours of hard work, the reptile was captured with a rope.
The crocodile was later transferred to the local zoo by forest officials.
The neighbourhood is located near the Ganga River, where crocodiles often wander into residential areas during the rainy season.
