A total of 182 players were sold at the IPL 2025 mega auction that was held in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia for a record Rs 639.5 crore. However, some big names were also left unsold. One of the biggest shocks of the IPL auction came when Prithvi Shaw was left unsold, after being released by the Delhi Capitals ahead of the auction. He was once considered one of the brightest future stars of Indian cricket, but his downward spiral is one of the saddest stories right now. Two days after he remained unsold, he has now been levelled with a massive allegation
Prithvi Shaw Ignored Advice From Sachin Tendulkar, Rahul Dravid
In an interaction with PTI, a former BCCI selector has blasted Prithvi Shaw after he was unsold at the IPL 2025 auction. He has accused the opening batter of ignoring advice from his India U-19 coach Rahul Dravid, Ricky Ponting and Soutav Ganguly when he was with the Delhi Capitals
He also revealed that Sachin Tendulkar also spoke with Prithvi Shaw. However, in spite of speaking to these legends, there has apparently been no change in Prithvi Shaw.
"Prithvi has been in Delhi Capitals. In DC itself, he had a chance to interact with Rahul Dravid, who was also his U-19 India coach, Ricky Ponting and Sourav Ganguly. It's an open secret in Mumbai cricket that Tendulkar has also spoken to him. Are these legends fools? Do you see any change in him? Even if there is, it is not evident," the selector shockingly revealed.
Prithvi Shaw was one of the four players retained by Delhi Capitals in the IPL 2022 mega auction, that too for Rs 7.5 crore. His base price was Rs 75 lakhs, which was 10 times lower than his salary for the past three seasons in the IPL. Despite this massive reduction in salary, Shaw did not interest any team in the IPL
