A transformer was seen exploding in downtown San Diego. Based on SDG&E’s power outage map, more over 5,300 customers in Golden Hill, Little Italy, Balboa Park, and downtown San Diego were unexpectedly without power on Saturday evening. It’s unclear if the two incidents are connected, but the San Diego Fire-Rescue Department responded to a complaint for an electrical problem at 701 Kettner Blvd. about the same time.
