Chennai: The Chennai Traffic Police has made special traffic arrangements in view of the Police Commemoration Day observance on October 21, 2024. The event will take place in front of the Martyrs Column, Police Chief Office Campus, Chennai-4, at 08:00 hrs. Traffic diversions will be in effect from 08:00 hrs to 09:00 hrs as follows:
Santhome High Road to Gandhi Statue:
All vehicles proceeding from Santhome High Road towards Gandhi Statue will be diverted at Karaneeswarar Koil Street junction onto Karaneeswarar Pagoda Street, Ambedkar Bridge, and Dr. Natesan Road to reach their destination.
Vehicles coming in the opposite direction are not allowed.
Gandhi Statue Area:
No vehicles will be allowed towards Gandhi Statue beyond the MRTS-R.K. Salai Junction during the Commemoration Parade. These vehicles will be diverted towards Light House MRTS Road, then to Lloyds Road, and can reach their destination.
MTC Bus Diversions:
Bus No. 21G (Mylapore to Parry’s Corner): Buses will be diverted at Royapettah 1 Point, proceeding via Music Academy Point, TTK Road, Royapettah High Road, Indian Bank Junction, GRH Point, and Anna Salai to reach their destination.
Bus No. 27D (Cathedral Road to Light House): Buses will be diverted at V.M. Street/Luz Junction, proceeding via Luz Church Road, D’Silva Road, Bhaktavachalam Road, CP Ramasamy Road, Dr. Ranga Road, Srinivasan Street, and R.K. Mutt Road to reach their destination.
Kamarajar Salai Commercial Vehicle Restriction:
All commercial vehicles on Kamarajar Salai from Napier Bridge to Light House are restricted during this time.
Motorists are requested to cooperate with the traffic arrangements during this period.
