Trade Talk: Would Yudhra Gain From Its Solo-Window Release?

Good news for Siddhant Chaturvedi whose solo-hero act Yudhra gets a solo-window release on Friday September 20. The only competition was Ssanjay Tripaathy’s Binny & Family a pert perky smalltown family drama which launches veteran Anil Dhawan’s daughter.

Yudhra to benefit from solo release window?

Binny & Family has been postponed from September 20 to September 27. This is the second industry kid to be launched within a week. This Friday on September 20 producer Vinod Bhanushali’s daughter is being launched in a film called Kahan Shuroo Kahan Khatam.

The buzz for Bhanushali’s family film is, sadly minus zero. An angry Bihar film exhibitor Roshan Singh wants to know why star children are being thrust on the audience. “Genuinely talented youngsters are being left behind while we have to watch producers’ and retired actors’ children. Audiences have already made up their minds. They don’t want to see star children. Nepotism is no longer excusable.”

This brings us to Ravi Udyawar’s Yudhra. It is the re-launch of Siddhanth Chaturvedi who has been openly grumbling about star-kids getting preferential treatment. Some years ago Excel Entertainment had launched Chaturvedi as the second lead in Gully Boy. They are now launching him as a leading man in Yudhra.

A source very close to Excel informs, “The production house is looking for more talent from outside(the film industry). The star system is playing havoc with the economics of the entertainment business. Excel’s Don 3 andJee Le Zaraa are on hold. They are happier doing small films with talented young strugglers like Siddhant Chaturvedi and Shashank Arora.”
