The film trade is going through another slump. The crash of last week’s two filmsJigra and Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video has sent shock waves across the film industry.
Analyzing the underperformance of both the films at the box office, Bihar’s film exhibitor Roshan Singh says, “Family audiences did not go to see Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video because of the title. They thought it was one of those sleazy film about making sex tapes like Rajkummar Rao’s Love Sex Aur Dhokha.”

"As for Jigra, bhai-bahen ki filmthi lekin koi emotions nahin. Alia and Vedang Raina, unfortunately, didn’t look anything like sister and brother,” he added.

It is hard to believe why Jigra didn’t get an audience. It is a clenching and grasping rescue thriller. As for Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video, it seems to mistake celerity for entertainment.

Sums up producer and trade analyst Girish Johar, “Both Jigra and Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video are backed by reputed production houses, and unfortunately both did not perform at the box office. Few common factors which did not go in the respective film’s favour. Firstly, high expectations were raised by the makers, due to the past track record of their films. Sadly, the audience was disappointed. Its a very thin line of going overboard. Further, the content, its feedback, audiences reception and reviews, everything was not up to the mark. This literally killed these films. Neither of them had chartbuster music, further their respective target audiences could not be drawn in at the ticket windows. Additionally, surprisingly, both films faced negative backlash and strong negative undercurrents on social media too.”
