The Stree 2 storm continues unabated. The mega-blockbuster has already crossed Rs 400 crore in India and is expected touch Rs 5oo crore by the coming weekend.
Fighting the fearsome-funny furore, the makers of the stylish Vikram period actioner Thangalaan have postponed their Hindi release plans by a week. Instead of August 30, it will now open on September 6.
The original Tamil feature and other regional versions were released on August 23. This epic spectacle has eye-catching action pieces and a remarkable performance by Vikram, who incidentally has not had much luck with Hindi audiences since Apirichit in 2005.

Thangalaan, attempting to marry mythology and modern elan, could be the game changer for Vikram in the Hindi belt when it opens on September 6.
The Sanjay Tripathi-directed Binny And Family featuring Pankaj Kapur which was to release on August 30, has also been pushed to September 6, in the hope that by then the Stree 2 wave would subside. This seems unlikely. But no harm in pushing a new product if the competition is quality conscious.
Roshan Singh says, “There is no doubt Stree 2 is a rare occurrence. How far it will go is to be seen. That said, I think September 6 is a safe Friday for Vikram’s Thangalaan and Binny And Family. They are far removed from the world of horror-comedy in Stree 2. After four weeks of Stree 2, audiences would look for a change.”
