Veteran writer-producer-director Ram Govind breathed his last today (September 14) after a prolonged illness. At the time of his death, he was at his Mumbai residence. Ram Govind was the husband of Maya Govind. He is survived by their son Ajay.
The news of Mr. Govind’s demise was announced by his son Ajay. In a statement to the media, he wrote, “With a heavy heart, I am very sad to announce the death of my father, Mr Ram Govind, a great cine writer, artist, and a poet, who passed away today morning around 10: 00 AM. He had been suffering from old age health issues for a year now. May his soul rest in peace.”

Ajay also confirmed, “The cremation will be held at Pawan Hans, Vile Parle around 5:30 PM. Rituals at home begin from 4: 00 PM onwards.”
About Ram Govind's work
Ram Govind contributed to the Indian cinema as a writer, director and producer. He directed the 1986 film Patton Ki Baazi starring Rajan Sippy, Khushboo, Swapna and Gulshan Grover. Mr. Govind also helmed the film Tohfa Mohabbat Ka which was headlined by Govinda, Kimi Katkar and Hema Malini. It released in 1988.

Ram Govind’s wife, Maya Govind was a renowned Bollywood lyricist who penned songs like Maine Paayal Hai Chhankayi, Main Khiladi Tu Anari, Aankhon Mein Base Ho Tum and several others. She died on April 6, 2022 following a heart attack, at the age of 82. Maya and Ram Govind tied the knot on May 14 1964.
