Since its premiere in November 2022, Netflix's teen supernatural drama Wednesday has become platform’s biggest English show with a staggering 252 million views. Of course, all eyes are on the eagerly anticipated Season 2 which shifted filming from Romania to Ireland. But will the new season have the same spooky touch? Rest assured with Tim Burton back in the director’s chair for a few episodes, it looks like it will.
Tim Burton to direct Wednesday Season 2
Burton and Wednesday star Jenna Ortega recently collaborated on the sequel Beetlejuice Beetlejuice which is now in theatres. They are also working on making sure Wednesday Season 2 matches up to Season 1. The series, based on The Addams Family, has been created by Al Gough and Miles Millar.
In an interaction with Collider, Gough confirmed Burton’s involvement as director on Season 2. He shared, “He’s doing four. He’s doing half the season like he did in Season 1.” For the first season, Burton directed the first four episodes setting the tone for the story to be focused on Wednesday Addams’s coming-of-age story at Nevermore Academy. Gandja Monteiro and James Marshall directed the latter half of Wednesday Season 1 with two episodes each. It is not sure which episodes Burton will be directing yet.
