Benefits of Bay Leaf
For better digestion and improved immunity, it is essential to add bay leaf into the chai mixture to benefit overall health. Bay leaf can also elevate the actual flavour of masala chai by just being in it.
Ingredients
1 cup milk, 1/2 cup water, 1 clove, 1 inch ginger, 1 cardamom, 1 bay leaf
Step 1
Start by adding water to a saucepan and allow it to come to a rolling boil. Ensure that the water is hot enough for the tea.
Step 2
Now, crush the spices including clove, ginger and cardamom into a mortar pestle. It is important to note that bay leaf isn’t added in this step. Once you get the ground mixture, keep it aside.
Step 3
Once the water starts boiling, add the coarsely ground spice mixture to it. Stir frequently and ensure that water isn’t absorbed in the meantime.
Step 4
Add bay leaf once the spice mixture is aromatic. Mix evenly and add sugar according to your taste preference into the saucepan.
Step 5
After the sugar has dissolved, the water is boiling and the spice mixture is also fragrant, add milk and stir occasionally. Serve immediately with cookies and enjoy!
