About the series Squid Game
Created by Hwang Dong-hyuk, the Korean series Squid Game quickly became a worldwide hit following its debut in September 2021. Filmmaker Hwang spent 12 years developing the show, but it took just 12 days for Squid Game to become Netflix’s most popular series ever.
It dominated the Global Top 10 for nine consecutive weeks, which was a first for any non-English series, and it still remains on top of Netflix's most popular non-English series. In 2022, the show made history with groundbreaking Emmy wins for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series and Outstanding Directing for a Drama Series.
