The Bear has set a new record for most wins in a single season for a comedy with 11 Emmys this year, besting its own tally from last year when it won 10. The show, starring Jeremy Allan White and Ayo Edebiri, has constantly flirted with comedy and drama and this year, not only was the cast asked about the genre confusion on the red carpet, but the monologue by Eugene and Dan Levy also roasted it for the same. However, the fact remains that this was a very successful Emmy season for the critics' favorite show.
The Bear's big win
The Chicago-set series is centered around the food industry as well as the city. The Bear continues to explore the darker aspects of being a chef, mental stress, and the anxiety of perfection in the profession. Jeremy Allen White, who plays Carmen Berzatto aka Carmy took home the award for best actor in a comedy series for his role for the second year in a row. While accepting the award, White said, “Thank you, my beautiful cast. I love you forever. I love to work with you, and I want us to be in each other’s lives forever. I love you so dearly.”

Jon Bernthal and Jamie Lee Curtis also won the Creative Arts Emmys, which was announced last weekend.

Is The Bear a comedy or drama?
The Bear has been unanimously praised by everyone who has watched it. However, one opinion that divides both its fans and critics is the show getting nominated as a comedy. During their opening monologue, hosts Dan and Eugene Levy quipped about the ‘comedy’ saying, “I love the show and I know some of us might be expecting us to make a joke about whether The Bear is really a comedy but in the true spirit of The Bear, we will not be making any jokes.”
