India is all set to take on Bangladesh in the second Test in Kanpur starting from Thursday. The hosts are 1-0 ahead in the two match Test series and now have a golden chance to whitewash their neighbours.
On the back of a 2-0 series win over Pakistan, Bangladesh were expected to come heavily on Rohit Sharma's side. But that wasn't the scene as they were inflicted a massive 280-run loss in Chennai.
India have proved their Test credentials again and again and their performance in the World Test Championship speaks for themselves. They finished runners-up in back to back WTC finals and are aiming for a place in the final for a third consecutive year.
Shakib insisted the current Pakistan team hasn't had the kind of experience a team should have in Test cricket.
In the pre-match press conference he said, “Pakistan is a relatively new team. In experience, I would say, if you look at the matches they played and if you look at our team and the matches we have played, we have got more experience than them. And in Test cricket I think that is a massive factor.”
He also pointed out India's dominance on home soil has been the major reason behind their success.
“If I talk about India, they are the number one team in the World Championship at this moment. They are probably unbeatable at home. I saw a stat somewhere where for some 4000 days they have been unbeaten in India. So, that shows how good they are in India.
“They have been doing well outside India as well. Any country that came to India finding it difficult, we are no different there. But having said that, we have to play really well against them to be able to show the fight that we feel like we can put on,”
