Thanksgiving, one of the most-traveled holdidays of the year, might be ruined due to severe weather. Several lake effect snow and storm warnings have been issued ahead of the turkey day. On Wednesday at 12:21 PM local time, the National Weather Service issued a lake effect snow warning from Friday 7 AM until Monday 7 PM for Oswego County.

The agency added: "Heavy lake effect snow expected. Multiple feet of snow will be likely through the weekend in the most persistent lake snows. The highest accumulations will be in the vicinity of the Tug Hill plateau. Snowfall rates will likely exceed 2 inches an hour at times."

Here is a day-wise break of the weather forecast this Thanksgiving week:

Wednesday:

East Coast: Dry, calm, and sunny, favorable for last-minute travelers.

Midwest: Rain developing by afternoon, spreading to the Ohio and Tennessee Valleys in the evening. Snow may mix in parts of Illinois, Pennsylvania, and New York.

West: Heavy snow in western Colorado tapers off by afternoon, while other regions stay dry.

Thursday (Thanksgiving Day):

East Coast: Rain from the Southeast to New England; snow possible in interior Northeast and northern New England. Poor visibility may affect travel.

Northern Plains: Arctic air arrives, with the coldest temperatures of the season.

West: Clear and calm, continuing favorable conditions.

Friday and Weekend:

Great Lakes Region: Lake-effect snow begins, with feet of accumulation possible in some areas.

Eastern US: Frigid temperatures persist into the weekend, with many cities experiencing their coldest days since February.
