A case has been registered at the Naupada Police Station against an unknown person under Section 106(2), Section 281, and Section 125(B) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), along with relevant sections of the Motor Vehicles Act. According to Thane police, they are reviewing CCTV footage from the area and have begun an investigation to arrest the accused driver, as reported by news agency ANI.

In another development, as many as 41 students from a civic school in Thane were hospitalised on Thursday after showing symptoms of food poisoning, according to an official. The incident came to light when students, from the Diva-Agasan area school, complained of stomach issues after eating the mid-day meal. All the students are reported to be in stable condition, said a senior official from the Thane Municipal Corporation (TMC).

A medical team from the corporation-run Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Hospital in Kalwa provided initial treatment at the school, and the affected students were later taken to the hospital for observation, stated Deputy Municipal Commissioner (Health), GG Godepure. TMC Commissioner Saurabh Rao reported that the issue arose after students from Standards V to VII consumed "khichdi" (a rice and lentil dish) as part of their mid-day meal. He reassured that all students are currently stable. Following the incident, officials from the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) inspected the kitchen, collected samples of the khichdi, and an inquiry is underway. Appropriate action will be taken once the investigation is complete, Rao added.
