Global NCAP (GNCAP) has bestowed the prestigious Safer Choice awards upon the Tata Harrier and Safari SUVs. This recognition represents the highest accolade bestowed by the crash testing organization, contingent upon meeting stringent safety requirements.

The Harrier and Safari underwent rigorous GNCAP crash tests in 2023, resulting in a commendable 5-star safety rating for both vehicles. Tata Motors, however, demonstrated its unwavering commitment to safety by submitting the SUVs for further evaluation to ensure compliance with Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB), speed assistance, and blind-spot detection system criteria.

To qualify for the Safer Choice award, vehicles must achieve the pinnacle of safety performance. In addition to securing a 5-star safety rating for both adult and child occupants, they are required to be equipped with an AEB system capable of detecting both cars and vulnerable road users. Furthermore, these vehicles must adhere to UN regulatory standards, incorporate a speed assistance system, and attain a perfect score in GNCAP's test criteria. Lastly, a blind spot detection system must be offered as an optional feature.

In the GNCAP crash test, the Harrier and Safari exhibited exceptional performance, scoring 33.05 out of 34 points for adult occupant protection and 45 points out of 49 for child occupant protection. These outstanding scores earned both SUVs a well-deserved 5-star rating, setting a new benchmark in GNCAP crash tests.

Global NCAP also acknowledged the robustness of the body shells on both SUVs, noting their stability under impact and ability to withstand further loadings.

The Harrier and Safari are equipped with an array of safety features, including seven airbags, electronic stability control (ESC), a 360-degree camera with blind view monitoring, and ISOFIX child seat mounts.

David Ward, president of the Towards Zero Foundation, expressed his commendation for Tata Motors' ongoing dedication to vehicle safety. He highlighted the organization's pleasure in presenting the inaugural Safer Choice Awards to Tata for the Safari and Harrier.
