Sudhir Mishra has never shied away from expressing his views through cinema. Known for having a strong socio-political opinion on various global happenings, the filmmaker has told riveting tales of war, politics and drama over the years. Now, the second season of his show, Tanaav, is streaming on SonyLIV.
Tanaav is the adaptation of the Israeli television series, Fauda. The second season takes the story forward. As Tanaav 2 is available for the audience to enjoy, director Sudhir Mishra spoke to Zoom about reflecting his personal political views through cinema. He further said Tanaav is a balanced show, presenting both sides of the story.

Talking toZoom, Sudhir said, “I’m not different from what I do. My personal politics informs what I do. I’m not sensationalist either. I am not calling attention. There is certain criticism I have of those sensationalised. Sameer Nair (Applause Entertainment) asked me to adapt Fauda and we sat down to think about it. Either naturally, we come to something or we don’t. It would have been different if we had come to a story we disagreed with but fortunately, we came to a point where we told the story of the same country. Not about two religions. It is a thriller, so we followed those routes as well.”

He added, “We have a point which doesn’t seem to offend. We have a balanced point of view. We’re more mature than most. We didn’t pull any punches while making it. The team of Tanaav never had to say ‘yeh mat bolo’ in the show. We naturally made a show that’s balanced and portrays different shades of grey and shows both sides of the story which is anti-terrorism.”
