Two of the finest South African cricketers of all time will go head-to-head as captains of the St. Lucia Kings and Guyana Amazon Warriors in the final of the 2024 Carribean Premier League (CPL). Faf du Plessis will lead the Kings, while 45-year-old Imran Tahir will captain the Warriors in the summit clash at the iconic Providence Stadium in Guyana.
The Warriors are looing to defend their title and lift the trophy for the second time in history. They were crowned champions for the first time in 2023, having previously lost the final in 2013, 2014, 2016, 2018, and 2019. On the other hand, the Kings are looking to end a long drought and lift the elusive prize for the first time in history. The St. Lucia-based outfit has previously finished as runner-up in 2020 and 2021.
Both teams finished the league in the top two of this season's points table and have been the best teams on show. Both had identical records of seven wins and three defeats in 10 games. Kings won the qualifier one and stormed into the final while the Warriors defeated Barbados Royals in the eliminator.
