Faridabad: A social media influencer and YouTuber, Rajat Dalal, who was involved in a reckless driving incident, appeared before the Sarai Khwaja police today. The police have taken appropriate legal action against him under relevant laws.
The incident first came to light when a video of Rajat driving dangerously went viral on social media on August 30. The police took suo motu cognisance of the video and began investigating the matter. It was found that on February 25, Rajat Dalal had taken a test drive of a car from the Volkswagen Capital Faridabad Showroom, located in Sector-27, Mewla Maharajpur. He drove the vehicle recklessly on the national highway, posing a potential threat to public safety.
The Sarai Khwaja police registered a case against Rajat under sections related to reckless driving and endangering public life. During the investigation, statements were recorded from an eyewitness who was a then-employee of the Volkswagen Capital Faridabad Showroom. The police also contacted the showroom to obtain the car's records and made efforts to trace the driver. Additionally, the traffic police initiated proceedings to revoke Rajat's driving licence.
Today, Rajat Dalal, a resident of East Chawla Colony, Ballabgarh, Faridabad, appeared at the Sarai Khwaja police station. He admitted that he is a social media influencer who frequently uploads videos online. On February 25, during a test drive, he drove the car at high speed and recklessly on the national highway near Sarai Toll Plaza. His friend recorded the incident, which later went viral on social media.
The police revealed that Rajat Dalal has two previous cases registered against him in Gujarat. Further checks are being conducted to verify if there are any additional cases. After questioning, the police have taken legal action against Rajat as per the law.
