A robbery occurred at the Tourneau luxury watch store at the Pentagon City mall in Arlington on Saturday, where suspects used a hammer to smash a glass display case and discharged a fire extinguisher, according to police. Initial reports of gunshots were false, and no shots were fired.
Officers from the Arlington County Police Department (ACPD) responded to the mall, located in the 1100 block of S. Hayes Street, shortly after 5:40 p.m. following reports of gunfire. However, investigations confirmed there had been no shooting. Four to five suspects had broken into a display case and deployed a fire extinguisher during the robbery.
"Not sure if it’s shots fired or not," an officer said over Arlington’s police dispatch. "I think it’s going to be Tourneau, it’s the same thing — we have all the smoke up here."
The suspects fled in a black BMW before police arrived.
