Singer Janet Jackson on Friday revealed that 'she heard' that VP Kamala Harris is 'not Black', a claim pushed by Donald Trump and his supporters. The pop-icon, during an interview with The Guardian, said that the Democratic presidential nominee's father is white and she is Indian. Trump had first made the arguement at a gathering of Black journalists. He said his opponent had downplayed her Black heritage in the past.
However, Harris has long indentified herself as Black. She became the first Black and Asian American woman to take on as VP and will create history if she wins on November 5.

Janet Jackson had lots to say about Harris' heritage. The singer told interviewer Nosheen Iqbal that Harris is 'not Black.'. "That’s what I heard. That she’s Indian. Her father’s white. That’s what I was told. I mean, I haven’t watched the news in a few days. I was told that they discovered her father was white."
Kamala Harris' father – Donald J Harris – was a Jamaican economist who came to the US to pursue his education. The 59-year-old's mother, Shyamala Gopalan, was a biomedical scientist. She traveled to the United States from India.

Iqbal shot back at Jackson immediately, correcting the pop-star. She asked whether the singer believed the US was ready for a woman of color in office.
“Honestly, I don’t want to answer that because I really, truthfully, don’t know. I think either way it goes is going to be mayhem. I think there might be mayhem. Either way it goes, but we’ll have to see," Janet Jackson replied.
