One person was killed and another injured in a shooting at the Exclusive Barber Shop in Dorchester, Boston, on Monday. Boston police responded to the area shortly before 1 p.m. and found two adult men with gunshot wounds at the shop, located at 184 Washington St. The victims were rushed to local hospitals, where one of them was pronounced dead. The second victim suffered not life-threatening injuries and is currently undergoing treatment.
Police believe the victims were customers and that it was not a random shooting incident.
"We do not believe this was a random event," said Deputy Superintendent Paul McLaughlin. "We are currently spreading out in the neighborhood, looking for witnesses."
As of now, the motive behind the shooting is not clear.
Recalling the incident, witnesses said the gunman walked into the shop and shot a victim while he was getting a haircut.
"I heard the shots and I stood up. I saw three kids come out and then I saw the actual gunman, dressed all in black. And he ran right across the street," Javier Nieves told WCVB. "Execution style, that's what the barbers are saying."
A person named Renier Thompson told the outlet that his grandson was shot in the head.
"He was a good kid. Skinny. Wasn't threatening. You look at him, you wouldn't be scared of him," Thompson told the outlet.
Thompson added that he had spoken to his grandson's mother just a day before the shooting.
"What hurt me most was, I told her, 'You don't want to lose your son to the streets,'" he said.
Search was on for the suspect and no arrests have been made so far.
