Shiv Sena’s Sanjay Raut Gets 15-Day Jail Term In Defamation Case Filed By BJP Leader’s Wife

Shiv Sena UBT leader Sanjay Raut has been convicted in a defamation case filed by Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Kirit Somaiya's wife Medha Somaiya. The Metropolitan Magistrate Court in Mumbai's Mazgaon also sentenced Raut to 15 days imprisonment and also imposed a fine of Rs 25,000. Sanjay Raut has been sentenced under IPC section 500.

Medha Somaiya had filed a petition in the court claiming that Raut had made baseless and defamatory allegations that she and her husband were involved in a Rs 100 crore scam related to the construction and maintenance of public toilets in Mira Bhayander.
