At least 11 people were injured after a Lufthansa flight from Buenos Aires to Frankfurt hit by severe turbulence on Tuesday, reported Reuters. The incident took place when the place was over the Atlantic.
"Unfortunately, five passengers and six crew members suffered mostly minor injuries," a Lufthansa spokesperson told Reuters via email. The spokesperson further added that the safety of the flight was not in jeopardy at any time during the turbulence.
The aircraft landed safely at Frankfurt. The injured were immediately given medical treatment.
At the time of the incident, there were 329 passengers and 19 crew members onboard the Boeing 747-8. The turbulence was brief and occurred in an intertropical convergence zone, the company said as reported by the news agency.
