service crisis hits ola electric: 80,000 complaints monthly and declining sales

Ola Electric is reportedly receiving around 80,000 complaints per month, forcing the company to form a new team to address the situation. With nearly 6,000-7,000 complaints per day, service centres report being overwhelmed as the customers face significant delays due to the high volume of complaints.

The complaints come as the company reports a drop in sales, with August's figures showing a 34% decline from July and a fall in market share to 31%, according to a report by Mint. Ola Electric operates 430 service stations across India.

Ola Electric did not respond to any queries about the issue.

Akhilesh Dabharde, 34, from Nagpur, told Mint, "For two to three months, my scooter was lying at the service centre. I sent them countless emails, calls, and messages. The stand sensor wasn't working, and it took me three months to get it fixed. Small issues keep coming up, but I can't get them resolved. The battery went kaput once, the range dropped, and the rear wheel jammed. Every month or two, there's a new problem."

Nisha C. Shekhaar from Bengaluru took to X to express her frustration, posting a photo of her scooter with a message that quickly went viral. Just days ago, another frustrated customer burnt down an entire showroom in Karnataka.

Service centres, like in New Delhi's Moti Nagar, are being described as overcrowded, with 500-600 broken scooters awaiting repair.

An anonymous employee said that a shortage of staff has worsened the issue.
