Mumbai School Holiday Live: Schools and Colleges in Mumbai are closed today, September 26. School Education Minister Deepak Kesarkar, the guardian minister for Mumbai city, declared a holiday due to incessant rains. The India Meteorological Department has issued a red alert for Mumbai and its adjoining districts Thane, Palghar, and Raigad till 8:30am on Thursday, September 26.
Following the incessant rains, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) to announce a holiday for all schools and colleges on Thursday. All Mumbaikars are advised to remain indoors as a precautionary measures. Students and parents can contact the school administration for details.
IMD weather forecast has predicted isolated heavy rainfall is to continue in the region till September 27. Extremely heavy rainfall caused a landslide on the Mumbra bypass in Thane at 9:30pm on September 25. Bulletin issued by IMD indicates extremely heavy rainfall and thunderstorms with lightning and gusty winds at isolated places to occur in Mumbai, Thane, Raigad and Ratnagiri districts over the next 24 hours.
