School Holiday Today: Heavy Rains has led to school holiday in many states including Gujarat and Bihar. A total of 76 government schools in Bihar's capital Patna will remain closed due to rise in water level of river Ganga. The Patna district administration has announced school holiday till August 31, 2024. The water level of the Ganga crossed the danger mark in Patna due to heavy rains. The decision has been taken for the safety of students and teachers, it said.The Bihar government had recently authorised DMs to take a call on the closing of schools if a flood-like situation arose in their respective areas of jurisdiction.
Gujarat Schools, on the other hand were closed on August 27. Local media reports claim that some schools will continue to remain closed till today due to heavy rains. It has been raining continuously for two days in Gujarat. Students are advised to be in touch with their school administration for latest update on school holiday. As heavy rains wreaked havoc in Gujarat, State Relief Commissioner Alok Pandey urged the public to follow the do's and don'ts of the district administration.
Heavy showers continued to pound the state for the fourth consecutive day today, throwing normal life out of gear and flooding low-lying areas. Many of the residents have been relocated to safer places as water levels in dams and rivers rose amid incessant rainfall.
