India are currently taking on South Africa in the third T20I of the four-match series at the SuperSport Park in Centurion. Afrter losing the second T20I, India need to win this match in order to stay in the hunt to win the series. All eyes were on Sanju Samson after he departed for a duck in the second match following his scintillating century in the first T20I. However, instead of regaining his magic touch, he departed for yet another duck. He thus became the first Indian to achieve an embarassing feat.

Sanju Samson's duck in the third T20I against South Africa is the fifth time in 2024 that he has got out for 0 in the shortest format of the game. Samson thus becomes the first Indian in history to score five ducks in a single calendar year in T20Is. Samson had earlier broken the record of scoring the most number of ducks by an Indian in T20I history, after he got out for a duck in the second T20I.

Sanju Samson Becomes First Player In History To Achieve Rare Feat
With his duck in the third T20I against South Africa, Sanju Samson registered his second consecutive duck in T20Is. He now becomes the first player ever in T20I history to score two consecutive ducks after scoring two consecutive centuries.
Sanju Samson also scored his 6th duck in T20Is. He thus overtakes KL Rahul to become the Indian with the third most number of ducks in the history of T20Is. He is only preceded by Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli. He continues being the wicketkeeper with the most number of T20I ducks for India, having already overtaken Rishabh Pant with his duck in the 2nd T20I.
