Sanjay Kishan, Assam’s Minister of Welfare of Tea Tribes and Minister of Labour & Employment, addressed key issues concerning welfare programs for Assam's tea tribes, the Sambhal riots, and the ongoing political debate about the Ajmer Dargah.
Speaking on the recent announcement by Jharkhand's Chief Minister to study the challenges faced by Assam’s tea tribes, Kishan highlighted the significant strides made under the BJP government in improving the lives of the tea tribes in Assam. In tea garden areas, Anganwadi schools are operational, and children can study up to Class 10. The government has taken all necessary steps to uplift the living conditions of tea estate workers, he stated.
He further emphasized various welfare measures, including Financial aid of ₹15,000 for pregnant women in tea garden areas. Hospitals, ambulances, and better healthcare facilities for tea estate workers.
The construction of residential quarters for workers and schemes to support unemployed youth, such as financial aid of ₹25,000 under the Dayal Das Panda Scheme.The tea tribes in Assam are now well-developed, and states like Jharkhand need not be overly concerned about their progress, he remarked confidently.
While asking him about the Sambhal Riots and Accountability Kishan also commented briefly on the communal violence in Sambhal, where Maulana Tauqeer Raza is set to meet the family of a deceased youth. He reassured the public of the government’s commitment to justice. The culprits will be punished as the present government always takes necessary measures. The people of India trust this government without a doubt," he said. Kishan avoided diving deep into the political dynamics of the riots but maintained that law and order are priorities.
Regarding Ajmer Dargah, amid the heated political rhetoric surrounding claims about Ajmer Dargah's past as a Shiva temple, Kishan urged trust in the judiciary.
'I will not comment much on this matter, but we are all aware of the history of the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya. It was only because of the court's decision that Ram Mandir became a reality' he said, adding that he believes the courts will take appropriate action on the Ajmer Dargah matter.
