A video shared on X by Airport Haber captured emergency units responding to the scene as smoke billowed from the aircraft's engine. Authorities confirmed that no injuries were reported following the blaze.
Antalya Governor’s Office Deputy Suat Seyitoglu told Turkiye Today, "All passengers were evacuated without injury, and thankfully, no one was harmed. There is no further issue at the moment."
The cause of the fire remains unknown. Air traffic at the airport was temporarily disrupted but has since returned to normal.
The Sukhoi Superjet 100 (SSJ100) is a regional jet with a seating capacity of 100, designed by Russia’s Sukhoi Civil Aircraft, a subsidiary of the United Aircraft Corporation. In 2019, a Russian Aeroflot SSJ100 was struck by lightning shortly after takeoff from Moscow, forcing it to make an emergency landing at Sheremetyevo International Airport. The plane caught fire upon landing, resulting in 41 fatalities out of 72 passengers.
