“Flipkart should be renamed to Fraudkart,” an online shopper declared. According to Abhishek Bhatnagar, his friend, Nikhil, ordered a Sonos speaker worth ₹30,000 on the e-commerce platform, but it turned out to be a Xiaomi bluetooth speaker priced at ₹2400 upon delivery. The X user also shared an unboxing video as proof.

“My friend (Nikhil) ordered a Sonos speaker worth ₹30,000, and he got a Mi Bluetooth ₹2400 INR speaker in a box of Sonos. Even after multiple follow-ups and complaints, Flipkart and Flipkart Support do not care to respond to or resolve this,” Bhatnagar wrote.

He went on to accuse Flipkart of being unresponsive, despite his friend posting what is supposed to be video evidence of the speaker’s unboxing.

The claims sparked disbelief, with many suggesting the clip was inconclusive, as it fails to rule out prior unboxing.

As one put it: “[I] have noticed that@flipkartsupport always does an open box delivery for electronic products. We bought a few phones and laptops in the past few years, and all of them had open box delivery. The customer can refuse to accept the product if there is an issue with it.”

Others simply refused to believe Bhatnagar. They argued that Flipkart has an open-box delivery system for this exact purpose.

Still, the post came as little surprise to online shopping sceptics.

“Don't know when will people learn. Why order expensive items online? Every day these cases happen. Stick to low-value items, and buy expensive items from stores,” a comment read.

“There's a new Flipkart scam every time I open Twitter,” wrote another.

Whether or not the online retail company has addressed Nikhil’s grievance remains unknown.

However, it’s not a one-off incident, as Flipkart has been at the centre of many such accusations of order mix-ups.

Other sites, including Amazon, are no stranger to these claims either.
