Rohit Sharma and Yashasvi Jaiswal etched their names in the history books during the fourth day of play in the second Test match between India and Bangladesh at the Green Park Stadium in Kanpur on Monday (September 30) with an opening partnership that left the cricketing world in awe.
With time running out following the second and third days of play being washed out, Rohit and Jaiswal put their foot on the accelerator from the start of India's innings and reached their 50-run partnership in just 18 balls. The duo ensured India registered the fastest team 50 in Test cricket history and set the stage for the hosts to also set the record for the quickest 100, 150, 200, and 250.
Rohit and Jaiswal put up a 55-run partnership in just 23 balls before the Indian captain departed for a knock of 23 in 11 balls. Meanwhile, Jaiswal scored a half-century for the 7th consecutive match with a knock of 71 in just 52 balls.

Ultimately, India posted a total of 285 on the board and took a lead of 52 runs. The Rohit-led outfit scored the runs in just 34.4 overs before declaring the innings making it the quickest 200+ score in Test cricket history. The hosts became the first team to bat at a run-rate higher than 8 per over while making more than 100 runs in an innings.
Apart from Rohit and Jaiswal, KL Rahul also scored a half-century while Virat Kohli and Shubman Gill played important cameos.
