'rohit sharma scored 35 centuries after crossing 30, so keep calm babar azam...': pakistan player urges fans to stay patient

Pakistan cricketer Babar Azam is undergoing a nightmarish streak with a string of low scores. As the men in green were thrashed by Bangladesh at home, another Pakistan cricketer Sohaib Maqsood has urged fans to maintain their patience with Babar Azam amid his recent struggles.

Despite Azam's recent subpar performances, Maqsood believes that the talented captain's prime is yet to come.

Drawing a comparison to Rohit Sharma, Maqsood highlighted how the Indian captain scored 35 international centuries after turning 30. He emphasized that Azam, too, has the potential to achieve similar feats in the future.

"Rohit Sharma has scored 35 International centuries after crossing the age of 30 so keep calm Babar Azam,s prime still to come," Maqsood wrote on X.

Babar Azam's recent performances against Bangladesh have been a cause for concern, as he failed to reach the fifty-run mark in any of the four innings. It has been more than 616 days since Babar last scored a half-century in Test cricket. In the recent series against Bangladesh, his scores of 0 (2), 22 (50), 31 (77), and 11 (18) have further emphasized his struggle to find form.

His inability to score a half-century in eight consecutive test matches, with a top score of just 41 against Australia in Melbourne last year, is particularly concerning given his outstanding talent and potential.

Former Pakistan captain Salman Butt had given two specific reasons behind it.

“There are two reasons (why Babar is facing so much heat). No doubt, he is currently Pakistan’s best batter and, I think, the most consistent player of the decade,” Butt was quoted as saying by A Sports.

“But the problem is that when a player struggled earlier, they were more out of form than Babar.

“There were 4-5 other players who used to win matches, so everyone’s respect used to be saved and it was covered.

“Now the problem is that Babar has scored so much, then he is the only one who scores most of the runs for Pakistan. There is no one with him who can match him.
