When describing how the Kapoor family coped with the pain of dealing with a huge loss, Riddhima responds, "I absolutely adore Karan Johar for one reason also when we were trying to cope with losing my father. We were trying to look happy during that time – he used to come home and make my mother smile and that stayed with me. We wanted to remember him with a smile: Riddhima Kapoor Sahni

Recalling a hard time after losing her father Rishi Kapoor, Riddhima shared, "It was a terrible time for our family. We used to cry together, laugh, celebrate him, remember him and I guess that's life you just have to move on. Today, when we look back, we don't want to think about the bad times – like what happened over those years especially – when he was in the hospital. We look back at the good times, the happier times. We want to celebrate him. When we all sit together, we talk about his funny moments, and what Dad would have said if he was here. We remember him with a smile and that's what we want to do – we want to remember with a smile."

Riddhima Kapoor: Couldn't leave my mom alone

During the chat, Riddhima revealed how she tried to support his mom Neetu Kapoor after losing her dad, Rishi Kapoor, " I had to come back to Delhi, people have even tried to separate us. People said 'She has now gone to Mumbai now, she has left Delhi'But no one understood that my mother needed me at that time. I wanted to be there with my mom and for my mother. I couldn't leave her alone. I'm sure no one does that – If your parent is alone, suffering, you're not going to just leave your parent there and go back to wherever you are. I would never do it. So, I was with my mom for almost a year. My husband was very understanding and said 'You be with mom. She needs you, you be with her till she is stronger.' And that is exactly what we did – She got stronger. She probably developed a little bit of confidence and we pushed her – to do this movie – that was the time she did JugJugg Jeeyo. She also did a couple of shows – this Dance show and we did Kapil Sharma Show together. All that I did was to make her happy. Happy means – you have to get on with life". Ranbir will start working, I didn't want her to be on her own and doing nothing and again your mind is going back to everything and thinking of all those sad moments, just wanted her to move on and I don't think we did anything wrong in doing it."
