The Indian domestic season will kick off with the Duleep Trophy, starting on September 5. The Ajit Agarkar-headed selection committee recently named the squads for the tournament and picked the best 60 players in the country. The likes of Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Jasprit Bumrah and R Ashwin were rested while Ravindra Jadeja was withdrawn after being initially named for the tournament.
Mayank Yadav, who bowled with express pace in IPL 2024, was expected to be named in one of the squads. But there was no place for him. Speaking to IANS, Mayank's coach has provided an update on him and revealed why wasn't named in any of the teams for Duleep Trophy. Mayank is at the National Cricket Academy (NCA).
"Like in the morning, he is made to bowl, followed by rehab session and exercise routine. After this, he again does his bowling in the nets. All of this is something which he is doing there on a daily basis, as per what he told me," Mayank's coach, Devendra Sharma told IANS.

EXPLAINED: Why Ravindra Jadeja Was Released By BCCI From Duleep Trophy 2024 Squad
"He bowls eight-ten overs daily, and I did ask him why he wasn’t named in Duleep Trophy squads. To this, Mayank replied, ‘Sir, I have been told not to go into it as I can’t put too much load on my body and concentrate on white-ball cricket for now’."
Mayank hogged the limelight by breaching the 150 KMPH mark while playing for Lucknow Super Giants in IPL 2024. However, he only managed to play four matches in the season before getting ruled out.
The BCCI is now taking care of the express pacer and he is surely in the scheme of things. Mayank hasn't played competitive cricket since the IPL. It remains to be seen when Mayank makes his on-field return. He has played one first-class game, 17 List A matches and 14 T20s. He has represented North Zone in the Deodhar Trophy.
